well i did it. yay. it was kinda messy. i wasnt expecting a few things. when i un-did the oil plug i guess the there is so much oil that it just shot out farther than where my oil pan was, so i got oil in the garage[8D]. but i would like to learn how the change the oil kinda of cleanly. takign off the plug can be done cleanly but when u undo the oil filter, oil goes everwhere and i dont have anything to put up in there. well now all i need to do is to get the computer reset. can i do that myself? or does it have to be done by the thieves at audi?

audi dealerships stopped using the crappy small oem filters and now uses much bigger ones on b5 a4s. doing the oil is super easy, after u do it once, its like riding a bike, ull be a natural.

Dont mean to jack your thread but just wondering.... someone said that all other oil filters are junk, only get the audi oem one??? Ive always used k&n filters and mobil 1 5000 natural oil in my chevys. 1st of all do they even make k&n for audis(specifically an a4 2.8 30v) and if they do, are they not good in audis? Ive never had any problem with them in my trucks and i usually go by the philophsy that you get what you pay for and they are the most expensive filters at the local auto parts stores, and of course that a lot of people swear by k&n air filters. Ok im done babbling. Thanks.

Ahh... finnally a subject on this forum i know about.... First off what is a chevy?

but anyways, if i were you i would make the jump from Mobil 5000 to mobil 1, you dont need to go with the EP version, a good 40 weight should do (i like the 5-40 truck and suv) or if you live in the arctic a 30 wt.
as to the filters, K&N is a good filter, however it is more or less a Mobil 1 filter with cheaper filter material, so for the little (if any) price difference your better off going with a mobil 1 filter, in my quite opinion they are hands down the best filter money can buy (Although i will admit to knowing nothing about the OEM ones) other than that id say go with a Purolator PureONE filter, for about half the price of the M1 filter its also an excellent filter. If your real cheap (which it doesnt sound like you are) purolators Premium Plus is a decent filter, but stay away from Fram, and Bosch,

Thanks

- Switch off ignition
- Press button 2 and switch on the ignition while keeping the button pressed. The display will now show "service OIL"
- Pull out button 1 and hold until the letters "service OIL" are cleared. The display will now show "service---".
- Press button 2 again to display "service INSP" and clear it the same way by pulling out button 1

(button 1 is the button on the left)
(button 2 is the button on the right)

-straight outta the manual)

Take a look at the Instrument Cluster (Tach, Speedo, etc.) There are two pull "sticks". Not really buttons.

Save yourself the hassel and money !

Take your car to National Tyres !

They will change the oil and filter for £15 Semi Synthetic oil or £20 Fully Synthetic oil.

I used to do it myself but i can't even buy the patrts that cheap !

Unless of course you like crawling aronud on your hands and knees............................................. .......
