Your car is not designed to run on E85. E85 is an 85 percent blend of ethanol. Your car requires premium unleaded gasoline. Which at most contains 10 percent alcohol, thou usually less.

Well guys, The E85 has a higher octane equivelent rating than premium unleaded. It burns cooler. The thing I'd worry about is the fuel lines and fuel pump. Ethanol is a better fuel than petroleum fuel.

if it has those qualitys, I would expect that like other higher octain fuels that it would burn more slowly, Needing advanced timing or a higher compression ratio.

Flyboy, you could be right. But, the 1.8t requires premium anyway. I'm not sure about the 2.8.

What do the makers of E85 say about running it in an unaltered car?

you can actualy start to loose power going with higher octain fuel than the unmoded car was originaly intended. the fuel will still be burning on it whay out the exhaust with a low compression.
