Ignition Module Resistance Test

RE: Ignition Module Resistance Test
Checking ignition systemTesting twin-spark ignition system with two ignition coilsIgnition coils and output stage form a joint component.
This component cannot be tested by conventional measurement media/methods.
If there is a fault in the ignition system:
‒Check power supply ‒Checking activation of power output stages
If no faults are found in the process of tests, but no ignition spark is produced:
‒Replace the output stage together with the ignition coils. [/ul]
Checking power supply
‒Unplug connectors on ignition coils.
=> Overview of fitting locations -‒→ Connect the multimeter (voltage measurement range) to contact 4a and to earth.
‒Switch the ignition on.
Specification: approx. battery voltage [/ul]
If the specification is not obtained:
‒Check the wiring. [/ul]
=> "Current Flow Diagrams, Electrical Fault Finding and Fitting Locations" binder
Checking actuation of power output stages
‒Pull the connectors off all four injectors. [/ul]
Note:
It is important to ensure that no fuel is injected during the test, as this would damage the catalytic converter. Therefore, the connectors on the injectors must be unplugged.
‒Unplug connectors on ignition coils.
=> Overview of fitting locations -‒Switch the ignition on. [/ul]
‒→ Connect the V.A.G 1527 diode test lamp to the following contacts on the connector:
‒Operate the starter for a few seconds. [/ul]
3-pin connector on the wiring harness contact
Specification
1 + earth
Diode test lamp should
15 + earth
flash (brief impulse)
If the specified values are not obtained:
‒Switch off ignition.
‒Connect test box V.A.G 1598/22 to wiring harness for engine control unit
[/ul]
The following wiring connections should be checked for open circuits and/or short to positive or negative.
