interesting idea
Yeah, that's all I was trying to get for him brrman.
And yes, you have to put the clamp back on just before you get to the dealer.
I don't know what the code may suggest to the dealer, but what your trying to do is get the dealer to investigate the turbo, so.... {fingers crossed}
Don't forget to casually mention to the dealer that you heard a metal sound at one point that sounded like a coin getting sucked up into a vacuum cleaner!
BTW: Just a double check on something... you know the blade on your turbo is broken/chipped? You've seen it?

I would have too. I thought it did, so I already sent my ECU off to APR to have the chip removed so they wouldn't void the warranty for that reason. But i called today and they (change of story) told me it had to throw a CEL or fail smog to be considered in violation of california's emmissions regs.
Does it still make that sound??
If so, and it truly is a broken turbo, then the dealer is just weaseling his way out of the job. There doesn't have to be any extenuating circumstances that must exist in order for Audi to have to replace the turbo under warranty. If it's broken, it's broken. You didn't make a deal with Audi to buy a car with a broken turbo. And if it breaks under warranty, then it's broken under warranty. Period. It's a warranty replacement.
