My '97 AEB with GIAC, K04, Borla, Bailey & FPR has suffered from really bad compressor surge from day 1.
I can barely give the car more than 1/2 throttle until it's over 4000 RPM or it will pulse bad and sometimes backfire into the intake.
After that it goes like a rocket. But around the town driving is terrible. Anyone else have this problem?

I need some advice on alternate software (got whatever AWE was selling last year) or another solution for surge.

It's not the DV or solenoid, those have been checked and/or replaced.
Thoughts guys?

i get the same thing xcept mine dose not backfire, it seems to just be one place at about 3/4 throttle.

 

check ur spark plugs

 

I should add that a certified Audi tech and enthusiast has checked out the components and all are within spec. Plugs are brand new.
Are suggesting gap is incorrect?

Consensus is that the Software is not matched to this setup.

Anyone else want to admit to having surge problems with GIAC K04 software? What Software rev are you using if or if you don't have a problem??

Found this on A-W forums

Try Copper Plugs, NGK BKRE6E, they come pregapped at .032. Many people have complained of surging, regardless of the chip they were running and copper plugs have solved the issue.

 

i run the bk series and still get surgin but only on warm up

 

I ran bk 6/7s and sevens with the ko4, 7s seem to work better.
