Default key question.

ok so im going to buy a 2000 a4 and it doesnt have a key, i was going to buy one of the keys off ebay and get audi to cut it. i have read some stuff about programming it, but will this just work so that i can use the functions on the remote or will it work to start the car too? the car has a hole in the oil pan so i was going to buy a key and get it cut so that i can see if it will crank over or not, im not sure if the engine is siezed, but im not sure if it will even do that unless the dealer programs it. im sorry i dont know much about this subject so any info. would be great.

Welcome to the forums. How can it have no keys? I hope this car is VERY cheap, it sounds like a pile of junk. Call the dealer first to see if they can cut a key based on your VIN. They will probably want to order the entire top half of the key though.

It should crank. I don't believe your car has an immobilizer installed. 2001 was the first year for those iirc.
