Knocking comming from frount of car HELP
How is your steering? Is it really tight or a little loose?
I am thinking worn tie-rod ends or a control arm if thats the case, because that can make a "clunking" sound from the front end. Other than that, these guys may be on track with a clutch/tranny issue.
It doesn't sound engine related.

Sounds like it could be the brake pads. Some brake pads can shift ever so slightly within the brake carrier. This can happen when you start moving or even change directions. You can test this by lightly hold the brake pedal when you start moving, and see if the problem goes away.
If this is the problem, unfortunately there isn't much to fix it other than try some different brake pads.

Im new but, my 2002 A4 is getting the same noise. Two dealerships and 3 days of warranty searching w/ no results...... From personal experience it is the throw out bearing. But that's me. Any help would be great
