a leak, i think

i have noticed that there looks like a oil leak around the top edges of my motor. i know nothing about htis stuff so some of you might laugh. is this normal for the car. i have posted a link to the pic. 98 a4 1.8. thanks

looks like a leaking valve cover gasket.

yeah thats what it looks like to me. just check the tightness of the cover. dont over tighten it because you could split the gasket if it is cork.

They dont make a cork valve cover gasket for these engines that im aware of. I just ordered mine and its black rubber.
