Lift access tomorrow - what to inspect
I have a chance to get my car on a lift the next couple days, I'm planning on changing the oil and looking for any issues since i've never been under the car before (only had it a month or so).
What sort of problems should I keep an eye out for?

Check out ball joints and control arms as well, and do a brake inspection (pads/lines/rotors), as well as check over the tire tread to be sure that your treadwear is even and regular (keep an eye open for nails or other stuff stuck in the tires too, things that could become problems later on down the road). Also, remove the engine under-shroud, and make sure you're not seeing signs of fluid leaks, such as fluid streaking on the bottom of the engine/transmission, or bodywork.
change your fuel filter while your down there. maybe do the tranny fluid if you have vag com. hit your cat convs and listen for rattling, if it's rattling it's probably on its way out. check the flex pipes for rips. try to clean out all the dirt in the crooks and crannies.
Spoken by a man who's been through this before - good calls on all, and agreed on the fuel filter. I've read that it's a pain in the ***, and I'm sure a lift would ease the job quite a bit - if I were you, I'd plan on doing the filter regardless of how many miles it's been. If you have the car up in the air, do it and get it over with.
