Default Locks

Alright guys, I'm having all kinds of issues with my power locks. My keyless entry hasn't worked for awhile, I replaced the batteries in my key thing and haven't been able to get it working since. There are also some other problems though. When I lock the doors from either of the keyholes, driver or passenger side, it only locks that door and the alarm doesn't arm. The power lock button on the inside of the door works fine, however. Also, if I hold the key in the lock or unlock position it doesn't open or close the windows anymore, I really have no idea what's going on, please help.

Also, the original problem started a while ago, the alarm, locking from the door, and windows problems however are new. Here's the link to the original problem: https://www.audiforums.com/m_152238/.../tm.htm#152238

Default RE: Locks

After you replaced your battery did you reprogram your key so that the car and key were running the same code?

Find someone with a VAGcom and pull any codes that are stored in the electric lock system.

I've tried to reprogram the keys many many times, I didn't get any codes the last time I used the VAG but I'll try it again tomorrow.

Ok Did you try the lock on the passanger side ? Does it give you the same problems ??

Cause my Driver's door lock won't open nor close the windows. (that's my only problem)

I tried the passnger's one and no problems.

Could the window control be related to the remote's code also ??

Maybe its a vacumm pump thats gone, if its a B5 that is, its in the trunk passenger side behind the rear wheelarch, behind the lining. If you hear a hissing then it may be a vacumm leak.

I don't think it's the vacuum pump because the locks still work quickly and smoothly when i push the lock button inside the car. So is that screen shot saying that I can clear the old memory with VAG software and start over, and is that what I should do? Also, maybe this is an even simpler solution, which way do the batteries go in? Because the plus minus sign on the inside of the case seem to contradict the owner's manual. Also, if i replaced the batteries in both remotes....can I use the standard one key in the ignition to reprogram if that one needs to be reprogrammed too? Thanks guys.

If I clear one of the keys from the memory with the VAG and the reprogram doesn't work, does that mean that the key won't start my car anymore or just that the keyless entry won't work? I'm a little afraid to try that so If you guys could clarify that would be great.
