Usually when you have both codes it's the MAF causing both codes. If there is an oil problem usually you can visibly see the oil on the elements (wires) in the MAF sensor. You could try the o2 sensor (at least it would be new then) but you will still have a code for the MAF sensor. If it was my car I would figure out why there is a 0102 code before worrying about the 1137. I would try cleaning the MAF and the connector to the MAF and if that didn't fix it I would buy a new one and clear the codes after each try. If the 0102 goes away and you still have the 1137 then I would replace the o2 sensor.

Ok tractioncontrol thanks alot for your help I'm going to go to the dealer and pick up the new MAF.Then I'll replace the O2 if I still have the 1137. Sorry for all the question but its somtimes confusing searching some of the forum pages and you get a couple different answers on the same subject.

Thanks Again ! [sm=smiley20.gif]

After replacing the MAF clear the codes and give it time to adjust before deciding if the o2 sensor is bad.

great posts back and forth traction and vw...

traction or vw any links to correctly cleaning the maf? I think I did it right but I may have not ... also vw if you have extra Mafs that you think are salvageable and work I would love to try them out in my car and see if it solves my same issue

I have replaced my precat o2 sensor only 6K miles ago so I know mine is good and cannot be bad..Im also checking for vaccum leaks

thanks!

Thanks Soley yeah Tractioncontrol definatly got me going in the right direction again! I'm going to pick up a MAF a.s.a.p. hopfuly I could get it in next weekend.I'm going to get it from the dealer so I could get to the bottom of the problem quicker. The last one I bought was from Rockauto which is great for discounted parts but your buying parts from all over the place. The brand was a-1 Cardone and after I put it in the car it felt like it was breathing/or reading better but I'm not sure .The CEL light was still on, there was no big difference I cleaned the K&N filter and use less oil and checked it after to my sure there was no visible oil on the sensor. So if this next MAF sensor doesn't erase the code than I got enought MAF sensors for you, traction, and me to try out.As for cleaning the sensor I took my original sensor out of the casing which had a little corosion on it. I very carfuly remove green corosion with a new razor blade making sure not to scrape the pins.I then sprayed the pins/sensors with electronic board cleaner which has a solvent content that dries pretty quickly.I applied it probaly three times over an hour using a Q-Tip to remove corosoin.Let in dry a put it back in the car when I thought in was as clean as in would be.I guess you can't use this for a guide because I had no resolution to the problem but there was a right up that went over the process I think in www.Audiworld.com ***But now that my brain is working again If you don't have the code P0102 than its not your MAF sensor.I learn that from traction control threw the posts here and after I get my new MAF sensor it may clear up both of my codes P1137 & P0102.If it only clears the P0102 then my first step to clear the P1137 code would be to replace the O2 BEFORE the cat.I think this is where you stand know so I'll help you search around but I think were going to some more good perspectives like tractioncontrol gave me on the MAF. Well going to Applebee's for Dinner I get back up with you soon Good Luck!

This was an old quote that I got late after buying the other MAF sensor so I'm hoping I still get the hook up but the list from the dealer is $138 so thats not horrible either but I'll soon find out soon **I'll get you one for what ever price I get I would think.I notice also that the 99 and 01 cost alot more for some reason so its a good year to have these problems I guess if you like problems?I know people have had some luck with cheaper MAF thats the only reason I tried it so if it turns out that the mass air flow sensor I have is good I'll hook you up cheap just let me play with them so I could figure out the problem and I'll get one to you possibly as soon as next weekend if I get the new one.I'm betting the original is no good thought and the one in the car has a few thousand mile It mite work in another car or it my have been bad right from the get go.
