I had the P0102 code. I bought a remanufactured MAF from ECS in
August 2005 for $85. I've used it for 34K mi. without any problems.
I use a standard air filter, and have no mods.

hate to break it to you but in most cases even the dealer MAF is a reman.. go to a VW dealer they are usually 50-80 bucks cheaper..

The three beeps and both lights usually indicate the brake control modual is going bad.

Hey great idea going to VW because thats where I went on my way home today $165 for the MAF so I think thats the one I'm going to buy (I didn't buy one yet because I never checked DV connection, I did tonight and everything looks fine.I unplugged the MAF and went for a ride tonight with in it didn't make any difference in how the car ran.The car isn't running horrible it always just seemed to me like it had a vacume leak.I'm paranoyd now that I'm going to burn up a new MAF if its not the problem. So guys help me make up my mind.

Should I just pick up the MAF sensor and hopefully clear up that code Possibly wasting another $165 + another $165 if I burn it up.I got all spooked after read about engine melt down or somthing after running the car with the CEL on for a long amount of time???

Or due you think I should get the car vagged to find out exectly is wrong.

I was also stopped and was suprised to see that Autoparts International sold the same MAF (Cardone that I bought from www.Rockauto.com ) I usauly buy all my parts from them the serve all the local garages parts in the area.

So can I possibly have a good MAF ? I hope not just because that would be the easiest fix. I'm going out for a few beers so hopefully I can talk to you guys before morning or in the mourning seeing that I have some time tommorrow to putts around with the car.

Thanks again Luke

Ok after sleeping on it I think I'm going to go with www.ECStuning.com for the parts.I don't think that the $89 dollar sensor will work on are atw, click on the learn more info about the product.I did see a Brand new Bosch sensor NOT remanufactured for $99. I guess thats just the sensor and not the housing? But they do not discribe the application of the engine that it goes to.So I'm going to order the OEM Remanufactured MAF part #ES9094 (reman) By VW for $124.95.

I'm also thinking about ordering:
O2 before Cat ES1526 $129.95
DV Valve 710N $48.95

I also need to replace the line from the intake to the DV it looks bad but I think its fine for now I just don't want to screw around with the same problems all summer.

***JONNYBRAVO are you located in Ct I read some of your posts before I don't know if your looking for a new car But I saw a Nice Black 2001 A41.8TQ Sport for $11,500 62,000 Miles tan leather tinted windows 18' BBS rims Kemei grill an eye lids the car looks sharp. If you know anying one looking its located next to Driving Image Speed shop in Farmington CT down the road from the old emmissions building.

I ordered the MAF from ECS tuning (Reman. By VW #ES4094) for $124.95. I picked up some Denso Iridium plugs IK20's.I'm also going to replace the hose from the DV to the intake and going to run a cone filter or somthing I notice some dirt in the airbox and I think the cone filter makes A better seal.I'm going to keep the heat sheild and box in the filter to keep it cool.I want to run the filter with no oil at first to eliminate the possibilty of throwing any more codes with the MAF sensor getting oily.So If all goes well my car will come to life Again an might sound alittle meaner coming down the road with the new intake.Wish me luck I'll post back soon.

nice ..keep me informed..I havnt done anything to my car...been too busy..

but now I have a brake issue so I have to look into that as well..jeez list goes on

hope the maf helps..would be good to replace any vac lines you can get to with silicone or rubber hosing ..that braided stuff was all dried out and cracked in my car

If you do a diy cone for your intake def down the line either fashion a diy heatshield or buy one from AudiZine.. everyone running that with intakes with the best results
