MAF Sensor - where exactly?
Gurus. I got a CEL and a single code P0171.
From searching various place on internet, seems like it might be a leaking vacuum hose or a MAF sensor module. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to locate this.
I am guity on the count of being a total fscking newbie. Only things I can identify under the hood are turbo, battery, washer fluid container, coolent container etc (stuff that is in user manual). Now please please please somebody guide me locating this MAF sensors and hoses that may have been cracked or loose.
I searched on internet for an image or DIY for hours, but nobody talks about where this MAF is located. If you could show me on an image that would be perfect, but a few line description will also work. Thanks a lot and happy christmas/holidays.
oops almost forgot: I have 2001 A4 1.8T

Your maf is located inside your airbox on the left side of the engine.
This guide here is a mod for the airbox and can tell you how to open it up.

Commonly if you use a K&N or some other filters that require you to clean them it can hurt your maf if you over oil them. Take a toothbrush to it if it looks gunky.

Keep in mind this is on my 2.8, but this is what the sensor looks like:

Since you have a 1.8T, your intake plumbing is different, but this is the part you're looking for. I'll find a 1.8T picture and mark it up for you, but find the airbox and look at the plumbing that runs from it to the engine, and you should see this piece somewhere on there.
