Yeah, im def gonna chip the audi w/ apr+1. No to the viper and HELL NO to the Vette. Mustang or Camaro about the only US cars you'd EVER see me in. And the 88 mustang is already built up enough to where i would have to touch it (so ive been told, ive only seen it in the parking lot at work, under 40k orig. miles though for $7k) Other, consideration is wait a year and look into the '08 GTR(<~~~~~~ Dreaming!!!) or used Porsche Caymen.I just dont know if i have the will power to keep saving. Hoping that chipping th A4 w/ a few other simple mods will keep me happy through the summer. THANKS for all the insight i think i would like to take the audi all the way up to turbo upgrade and stop there. If the stock one goes then i'll replace it w/ aBT, no k04 for me(No offense to k04 owners, but if i gotta replace a turbo then its gonna be BIG)!!!

if you can find one, a 98 mitsubishi 3000gt vr4 is the most bang for your buck.
v6 twin turbo all wheel drive stock.
for $10,000 you'll run 11's or less.
exhaust, intake, BOV, boost controller and you're over 300hp. (lookin at around $5,000 for that)
My brother has one, and I will tell you, I've been in built muscled out camaros, modded WRX's, 454's, and nothing has ever put my *** in the back of a seat like this thing. you CAN spin the tires if you want to, but you have to try. and that's saying something when you're over 300hp.
this thing eats corvettes (with obvious exceptions) and mustangs look like they're standing still.
vettes and stangs with blowers will beat it in a straight line, but the handling is in a different league.
Rare car though.

DON'T GET A MUSTANG! The fox body mustang is so played out. I would either mod it or go with a LS1 camaro/trans am. I own a 2000 SS and I love it to death, that's my speed car, and as soon as I find mean A4, that will be my cruise car.

sick car but you can't just throw a boost controller on the car to up the boost. you will **** it up bad. and no way its 5 grand for those 4 mods you listed.

and to the other guy, fox bodies are in no way played out. if anything camaro's are played out

I figured I'd drop my two cents in on this Mitsubishi/DSM subject. I've been building them for 8 years now and the advice/prices given here are not true.

I daily drive my Evo8, there is no way I would even compare power output/handling to the Audi. Yes I know this is an Audi forum, but there is a reason why road and track and all the millions of magazines keep the Evo and Sti as the "ultimate" driving/racing cars. I have myself put under 2K in mods and am at 341 AWHP on a mustang dyno.

A 3000GT VR-4 is NOT a good buy, as they are heavy V6 cars and are much harder to fix than the classic "mitsubishi eclipse or eagle talon". These are both 4 cylinder cars and can be had for cheap. For under $1K you'd be beating the pants off most things you come up on. For $10K I could buy myself another 95-99 Eclipse and having it run 11 sec quarter miles on pump gas and put over 400 to the wheels.

Also, that being said... I still only get 20ish mpg on the Evo stuck in traffic, and I used to get 24mpg on my Talon with a very larger turbo. I just got a 98.5 A4 1.8T quattro for the wifey to drive and it is a nice cushy comfort to be stuck in traffic with more sound deadening, and automatic transmission I am also seeing a jump in gas mileage to what I see as maybe 24mpg right now.

If you have that extra money for another car, depending on your budget it would be great to have a "toy" or "race car". If you don't bother, I'd dump the money into the Audi and have a nice daily driver with a little kick to it.

Maybe I'm getting old, I love the Evo and all my other mitsubishi's... but the commute to work in bumper to bumper traffic gets to me.
