i found a 97 a4 with a moon roof and was wondering if the actual glass goes back and there is a hole or if if the glass stays sealed and all you can do is pull back the cover and look? thanks again

 

My 98.5 goes all the way back (I always thought that was the definition of a moon roof). On another note, the glass slides back inside the car (well, in the headliner anyway) not outside like certain mitsubishis, etc. so anything on your roof will not be affected.

 

If it does the same as my 99 it will also tip open in the back for ventilation.

 

i think the difference between sunroof and moonroof has to do with whether it tilts or not....idk which one is which.

 

A moonroof will only tilt and are usually glass.
A sunroof will slide back and tilt and can be either glass or metal.

 

ok thanks guys! i went and test drove this car and found that it tilted and slid back into the headliner. thanks again guys
