The MAF is conposed of two parts. First there is the MAF housing, which is the metal tube piece you see above. Inside the tube in the middle of the MAF housing is where the MAF sensor goes. The tube is called a "sampling tube". The sensor inside has two heated elements that measure the amount of air traveling into the engine. It does this to compute the amount of fuel that is needed to make the "right mixture". You also might be interested to know that on the exhuast there are 4 sensors called "oxygen sensors". They measure the ACTUAL mixture ratio coming out of the engine. The computer (ECU) decides if the maf is lying or accurate by reading the o2 sensors, it then makes corrections as needed to maintain the correct fuel/air mixture.

your right jestnomen i forgot to include the actual meter

This will be the actual unit i will use. hey jestnomen im not trying to increase the air flow to the point modifications need to be done to the fuel im just trying to position the filter in a place where it can access cold fresh air
