its a funny thing cause usually your a/c goes out before your heater does. Well anyways I bought my a4 used. and its a 2001 1.8t. I don't know what is wrong with my heater, my a/c works and my seat warmer works but my heater doesn't. Can someone help me out and tell me what I need to do to get it working? cause when I turn it on the first few seconds I can feel the heat and then it just turns cold. When I set the temp. at 65 it gets really cold and it shoots out full blast, when I set the temp at 85 or hi, it doesn't even get hot, it gets cold. So what am I supposed to do?

 

u either have air bubbles in ur coolant or a bad heater core. for the coolant, take the cap off and run the car for a little bit.

 

Your heater core is either blocked or the a/c control head is bad/temp flap motor is malfunctioning.
I would first try to remove the battery and un-hook the two lines to the heater core and use compressed air to blow out the heater core.

 

I ran my car with the coolant cap off and there are air bubbles in it. how much will that cost me to replace it, does warranty cover that? or do i have to pay for it out of my own pocket? I have extended warranty up to 200k. and where do i find the heater core in case the coolant isn't the problem?

I would highly recommend trying to blow it out first before replacing it. The heater core could cost you some serious $$$$$ for removing the entire dash board.

 

so i unhook the battery and then there are two lines to unhook the heater core correct? and then what do i do? i'm sorry i'm very new at this, and this is my first audi. I'm used to hondas and acuras. this is something new for me. thanks again guys

 

Use an air gun with an air compressor and blow all the crap out of there. If you don't have one have a shop do it for you.
