Default Need Help w/ Basic Maintenance

I've had my '03 1.8T Quattro 5-speed for just over 2 weeks now. The car's running great, andI want to keep it that way. Audi gives me a 10K mile basic maintenance service, including an oil change, tire rotation, etc. As far as I could tell, I wouldn't have to go in for an oil change prior to the service call, but would you recommend one beforehand (e.g. at 2K or 3K miles)? What other simple maintenance tips can you give a novice Audi owner?

Since the car's new, I plan on enjoying the car as is - with no mods, for a year or so...unless there's something that I ABSOLUTELY SHOULD do to it. In that case, please help.

Thanks.

Hey, what's B6 A4? Any recommended websites for body kits? FYI, my car is silver (gray)leather interior on silver metallic exterior, with the bottom black.

Check out http://www.lltek.comalso check out the Oettinger site. at LLtek look for A4 8E ( also known as B6) aero styling. These kits are pretty expensive, so if you don't opt for one, you should consider just painting the lower parts body color, it looks much better.

B6 is the body style name, I think 8E is another name for it too. The 96-2001 models are B5.

Absolutely add a chip, you can specify the level of performance you want, you might have to wait until the 2003 chip has completed development. Most popular chips are from APR or GIAC.

From other posts seen, it's a personal decision - but I wouldn't (and didn't) change the oil prior to 10K to allow the rings to seal properly. Supposedly there's a certain type of oil it comes with from the factory.

Now that I've past 10K, I'll be doing a change every 5K - one on them, one on me.

As for tires, I'm rotating every 5K to get longer life out of them.

Thanks for your input, A4toZ.

I actually just got my oil changed a couple of days ago at 4,000 miles at a local shop that specializes in German cars, who also worked on my old car. This way, I figured they know me and they'll get to know how to maintain my car as I'll bring it in regularly for tire rotations, etc.

They used an authentic Audi filter and 5W-40 Synthetic oil, some special stuff they get straight from Germany that they swear by.
