Basic A4 maintenance
Hi, I went through the welcome forum, but I guess I need something even more basic than that.
As I wrote I bought my A4-1.8Ti with 84.000 miles on it, it's the 2000 model, Tiptronic
(that is great)
Anyway here's my list of Q.
A) What should I change (water pump? Transmission Fluid? what else?)
B) A good book-manual about (Audi) car maintenance
C) Basic toolset to be able to keep your car running
D) are those engine cleaners fluid any good?
E) Cheapest way to reprogram a key I intend to buy on Ebay? ( the dealer asked $160 to reprogram it)
Thanks!
Thanks!

A) if they haven't been done: Timing belt, water pump, fuel pump, fuel filter, tranny fluid.
B) Bentley's manual on CD
C) I guess that's a question. Yes, get a good set at a reputable store; it should have metric and SAE sockets and wrenches, torx bits, and allen wrenches.
D) If you are referring to the stuff you add to the gas tank: NO! They are too corrosive. If you are referring to cleaning the engine bay: get Simple Green.
E) You will need another key that already works. Then you will use both to re-program the new key. There are a few tech articles on AudiWorld that you can read.

If you are talkig about injector cleaner, Techron is generally accepted as a decent one. But if you use premium gas constantly, you should rarely (if ever) have to use it. They are, like Imola says, corrosive and can have a negative effect on your internals if used often or not in the correct mix with fuel.
You can use an engine cleaner to clean the engine if you like - Gunk makes one. I've used them and they are not harmful. Lots of people use Simple Green though. It works pretty well.
