New 98 1.8T...any ideas?
Hey all...I just recently, as of this morning, bought a used Silver 1998 Audi 1.8T, finally...i love these cars and its about time I got one...first off, im just wondering if there is any way to check if the timing belt has been changed...it has 85,000 miles, runs like a dream, but i just want to be sure. There was no sticker saying it was, and the dealer said they werent sure...secondly...any ideas on how to make this thing look better than it already does? I was thinking a few of the following..
25% Tint all around
Tien S-Tech Springs
Halo Headlights
Altezza Tail Lights
Factory Spoiler
Any Interior Ideas?
Also...any experiences with any of the items listed? Let me know!
Thanks A Lot guys, im new to this site and im hoping its a lot of help! Keep up the good work...

say no to altezzas!!!!!!!!
but tint looks good, lowering it is a must, especially if its not the sport suspension. no on the halos, but e codea are cool. go for a lip spoiler. that will look good, as for experiences, check out our DIY section.

DON'T DO ALTEZZAS! Chip, wheels, suspension, paint lowers, clear corners. Also, update all your lights to 99.5+. Headlamps, tails, sidemarkers. Than you'll have a real clean lookin A4.
Ok Awesome, thanks guys. Now a couple more questions...
Where can i find headlight conversions to fit my 98? Or will 99 headlights strap right on to mine. Is so, any websites for these parts?
Thanks Again

Well, If you want to put in 1 Piece Headlights you'll need to trim a little tab in you headlight to accomodate the 1 pieces.
Also, I'm not too sure on this but since ours have the Foglights in the Headlight itself, you'll need to rewire that or something or you can possibly get the lower fogs and rewire that.
Here's a DIY. https://www.audiforums.com/m_149303/tm.htm

but if you are lucky enough to find 99.5 up used headlights those are a good bet, but when i did mine i got all the stuff from www.ecstuning.com i spent around $400-450 on everything, so be expecting to spend some money.
when we had to do a project for a friend, i found parts at a discounted price at Auto Parts Train, thought might be able to help you find parts that you need.
