Default New to Audi- story

I recently was in an accidnet where i totaled my 98 blazer and have been looking for a car ~$7000 and I found this really sharp looking used black 97 audi a6 quattro for $5995. It was fully loaded, black leather interior, the works-it drove smooth everything seemed fine. Well today I was looking to buy it and had my parents pick it up to take it to the mechinac to check it out. After school I called from work to see how it was and 3 mechinacs looked at it and said there was major oil leaking- don't know exact parts ill update in a bit I just got home.

I am really sad to have heard this and I had my heart set on this car, I think I'll wait and keep looking for another Audi after falling in love with this car.

My parents never decided to tell me but this same dealer is getting pretty much the exact same car except as an A4 in about a week.

Is there much of a difference in the A6 to the A4. These cars feel great to drive and handle well, they look sharp and have more than what I could ask for inside them. Should I try out the A4 - are there any things I should be looking for when checking this new one out?
*posted this on a6 forums too but alot more people look at this one.*

Hey welcome to the forum. The A4 will be a little more sporty, but also a little bit smaller in size and rear legroom. Please search the forums first before asking what to look for. It comes up almost daily here.

Check out

Tie rods
Control arms
Timing belt

Thanks for the info, I read around and found alot of problems with the timing belt and some oil problems. I have been searching around alot more, and I've found alot on ebay but I don't know how reliable it is with just a report from the seller and a carfax report. Like the last car everything the seller told me was good and the carfax was perfect.

I am still waiting for the a4 to come into the dealer so I can get a look at it. The a6 I almost bought was my fav i've seen, black w/ black interior. Only would like to see that with a few mods like the clearcut , some black 18's and maybe dropped down a few in. That will only come after I find myself my audi and quite a few paychecks lol.
