Default New clutch is in

I finally got my new clutch put in today. I got a dual friction (ceramic and Kevlar) with an aluminum fly wheel. South Bend clutch. I could not believe how heavy the stock flywheel was comapred to the new aluminum one. I now understand how a clutch works having seen it pulled and replaced. I got 111,950 on the factory clutch. It didn't start sliipong until after I did the turbo/dv upgrade. On a side note, we thought that the rear main was leaking and it turned out that the valve cover gasket was leaking enough that it was traveling down through the bell housing. So I replaced that while the real talent put the clutch in. I only have about thirty miles on it, so I'm not anywhere near broken in yet, but so far me likey. Changed the way it drives a little, friction point is in the same place, but it is noticeably different than the stock clutch was. So far, if you are looking for a nice upgrade to the factory clutch, I would reccomend taking a look at South Bend. Anyone else out there have a South Bend clutch?

South Bend has continued to prove itself with very happy customers - their reputation grows and grows.

Congrats! ...and keep us updated on its performance.

imolas4, update on the clutch. It's not slipping anymore, so it must be breaking in well. The two things I've noticed most so far is that the turbo spools up a lot quicker and it takes more pedal to start in 1st from a dead stop. Took a little getting use to, still huge thumbs up.

Do you mean it takes more gas to start in first?

that sounds right cuz with a lighter flywheel you have less inertia to spool the turbo and move the care one of the downsides to a light flywheel

Yes, more gas to start in 1st. I've stalled it a few times when I'm not paying attention and revert back to the way I drove the old clutch. I'm used to it now, but it is quite apparent that it's not stock. You can also hear the clutch disc if you pull up to a stop light and let the clutch out in neutral.

OK... so far this has been a fairly subjective post. So what about raw data?
Any numbers to disclose? How is the performance from an objective point of view?
I'd like to hear about any performance changes.
TIA
