Okay... so i think i know what i did, but im not sure. I have a 2001 audi a4 1.8 t, NON QUATRO

I was changing my oil, and im deathly afraid of gettnig under my car on a jack, so i usually use phone books to put the front tires up on the sidewalk in front of my house. I got my car halfway up the sidewalk, realized i wasnt going to get up the first time and i was half on and half off. SO no wanting to screw my tires up, i put it from drive to reverse. I get a loud clank when changing gears, kind of like when you part on a steap hill without putting you E brake on. Anyway didnt think much of it... till i was done changing my oil.

Now my car goes into and out of first gear kinda weird. When i slow at a stop sign, i have to wait for the car to kick into 1st before i can accelerate out of the turn, or else it just rev's. It ALWAYS goes into first, but it doesnt seem to happy about it at all. Also, now when i go in reverse to back out of a parking spot and put it in first to drive off, it catches first real quickly sometimes, it doesnt so much roll nicely into first as it use to. The Dealership says its 106 dollars just to check it out... so coming to the boards first. Thanks guys.

Is it a TIP or CVT?

 

no service manual, and i can NOT find the tranny fluid for nothing. according to the dealership i HAVE to take it in to have the fluid changed... no lights on the car at all either... except my brakes need replacement.

as for the other question, no idea what that is.
