Hey Guys,

Thanks for the advice. I saw the car yesterday. It drives quite well; great response, great handling, and it surely doesn't feel like a car with 120 plus thousand miles.
It's pretty well appointed and it's a strong contender in my book.

Two negative points: all of the led's on the instrument panel are somewhat shot. Readable, but not it has missing lines throughout. Same thing with the temperature led. It's missing one of the bars.
Also, the water temperature gauge doesn't work. Are those two items that may signal a larger problem. Could the instrument panel be replaced with a used one or an aftermarket one?
Does the gauge signal a problem with a sensor or a radiator problem?

The temp guage is probably just the sensor which is like $20 and the whole display thing you will find 89% of audi's have them going out or missing lines..... ITs one of those things that just happens and it sucks you will learn to live with it if you get an audi

The sensor lines are way way common in audi's. Mine as exactly the same thing and it's no big deal. Mileage is not a problem at all with audi's as long as the service is done correctly. Timing belt as always is the major issue here, but also check the control arms. They have been an issue for a lot of audi owners and they tend to fail anywhere between 70-140k (there seems to be an open ended issue). The control arms will start squeaking (or a clunk noise) and they will need to be replaced. A good set will go for 500$ plus labour (anywhere from 300-400$ depending where you do it).

There's a thread somewhere in the site (i think it's in the DIY section) about control arms and everything that you need to know. But anyway, when you drive the car next time ask for the control arms. If it hasn't been done, chances are this will be an issue in the future, but like I said it's an open ended issue.

here's the thread:

Good luck on your car hunt!

Hey Guys,

I wanted to let you know that I bought the a4!
I just got it today, and the first thing I did was to have the oil changed.
I'm going to have the brakes checked tomorrow (they feel a little soft) .
I will DEFINITELY be bugging you guys in the near future about some enhancements (wheels, upgraded lighting...etc.)
Thanks again for all of your help.

P.S. - I got it for $6300!
