Default Newbie with a couple of questions.

Hi Everyone,
I just came across this GREAT forum the other day after purchasing my 2003 Audi A4 3.0 with 148k.
This has been a great place for me to get information on my car.
I have searched many times in reference about the oil pressure light coming on (Which my car is doing) and I wanted to put a mechanical oil pressure gauge on my car to make sure it is getting the correct amount of oil pressure to start the process to see what is wrong.
I have not been able to find were to install the oil pressure gauge, would it be at the oil pressure-sending unit?
What should the oil pressure be?
I would like to start checking this as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Umm... wow. I'm not sure whether to welcome you to the forums first, or say holy sh*t (148k miles on a 2003 A4???). Regarding the oil pressure light, you might want to start by sea-foaming the engine (many DIY write-ups are on here... all you have to do is search). The 1.8t engine is notorious for oil sludge, but the 3.0 should be better. You should also get your timing belt changed ASAP... should've been done before 90k. Also, there's a recall on the 2003 A4's for a faulty fuel pump. Check with your local dealer... it may have been done already.

Just wanted to ask you... is the 148k in miles or kilometers?

148k miles. Clean Car, bought it for $7000.00 earlier this week. Any ideas on oil pressure #'s or were I hook up an mechanical oil pressure gauge?

If you can find the oil pressure switch-should be near the oil filter on the block. You can probably run a brass tee with a few nipples to do the job.
