Default Newbie with questions

I got rid of my 2002 camaro SS with 400RWHP about a year ago and since then i have been driving trucks. Ive wanted an audi for awhile now cause i love the look of the dumped, big rims, european look of them.

I found one that i wanted but my only question is " is it going to be fast enough"

i know it wont be close to my camaro but i want something that is going to throw me back in my seat. The one i am looking at buying has APR ECU upgrades, intake APR exhaust and he says it has 215hp. What kind of horsepower do i need to get this car cranking. Such as what is a good HP for one of these cars.

I can get a turbo, but will it be reliable and can i still smog. i live in CA
Reliabilty is a big thing, and also i can get passed the visual on smog but my car will have to hit the smog machine, will it still pass with flying colors or not. I want to have tons of power but i dont want it to bum me out because i cant pass smog. Also if i were to add a turbo to a stock a4 and drive it hard alot does the car usually hold up or will i be running into problems in a 10k miles. And here comes the fun part if i add a big turbo what kinda HP am i looking at.

also with the oettiger body kit do they fit well and are they sturdy.

and my last question is, i will probably drive it around for awhile before i do turbo or anything, can i get a big blow-off valve to make the stock turbo sound great or do you have to have an aftermarket one for that.

Thanks for all your help i was in a camaro forum for years and i loved it there so i appreaciate any usefull hints or tips you guys and girls can give me.

By your description, I'm assuming this is the 1.8t A4. (It would help if you mentioned exactly what it is and what year.)

First of all, You can't put a BV on the closed loop system of Audi turbos. They require DV's (diverter valves AKA bypass valves). But, there are good aftermarket DV's that work far better than the stock units.

The Oettinger body kits seem to fit quite well. You may have to do some minor tweaking to get things flush, but nothing too difficult.

Alot of 1.8t upgrades go to much larger turbos. The most common and easiest is the K04 upgrade, but I think you'd be happier with a larger setup. The T28 is a well sorted out upgrade. PES has been doing good things with upgrades. http://www.pes-tuning.com/ I'd search the archives for what others have been doing.

Bottom line: YES! You can and will be happy with the A4 - be ready to take care of it though. These German cars demand attention; it won't be like a camaro when it comes to maintenance.

What do you mean by that? Does it need more maintenance?

Not exactly. I mean that when the car needs maintenance, you won't be able to go down to your local PepBoys and get the parts for cheap bucks. Secondly, German cars are not built like American cars. The tolerance values on American cars are higher. They can take longer hours/miles of abuse before they fail. And, when they do fail, it's usually not a huge repair bill compared to German cars. German cars are built with more precision - if one thing begins to fail, other related parts begin to stress immediately. Therefore, when something begins to fail, it is best to repair/replace it immediately before the other parts fail and before your parts expenses skyrocket. They demand attention in that you need to monitor their fitness regularly. You can leave the car alone and let it go, but you'll find your repair bills will be higher in the long run. So much of what can be done with the 1.8t is user friendly; you can "DIY" most of the time which will save you on labor costs, too.
Hope this cleared it up.

Try test driving the car first..... The first thing youll notice is that off the line its kinda slow but once you get going its pretty fast not like a camaro..

Also that 215hp is at the crank not whp which sounds pretty close with chip, exhaust with the K04 is said to make up to 260hp most kits claim only 240hp though but there are more expensive units out there that have less lag and higher hp
