of course they told you that, because you asked for a relay switch [:-], you dont go and buy a load reduction relay, you have to buy any of this two:

Part numbers:
443 951 253J (BLACK MARKED "213"), is what was shipped with the car

Superceded by:
8D0 951 253 (GREY MARKED "370"), is the replacement part

So, this are RELAYS, not load reduction relays (wich is the relay function, not its name)

Thanks fellas for all your help. I'm very appreciative of it. Will check relay and if that doesnt work will check ignition switch.

Check with Audi of America. See if you qualify for the ignition switch recall (JS campaign). Dealer will replace it for free. Dealerreplaced minelast month on a '97.

The funny thing was that everything was working fine a few hours ago. Could it be the fuses? It strike me as odd that it could be the fuse because a lot of things are not working. I can't fathom the idea that all these fuses blew @ the same time. Has anyone experience this before? What could it be? Could it be the computer because I heard Audi has A LOT of electrical problems. Many thanks.
Hello, people, 15 years later. I had same problem with my A4 '01. I couldn't find a good master. Some said it was an ignition lock, others a relay, still others expensive electronics. But no one could solve that problem. In the end, I accidentally determined that the problem was the wires leading from the chassis to the driver's door. The insulation of the wires cracked and when it came in contact with water, a joint was made. I have bridged all 8 wires and I no longer have that problem.
