Default now that i got the audi outta the way..

i just purchased a 1999 a4 1.8t and was wondering what would be a good first stepping stone to modifying it. i was looking at chipping it, but i come from a honda background and dont know squat about audi's yet. so, any advice would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

Welcome to Audi's. You'll learn a sh!tload on this website. A chip os def the best start to the 1.8T Audi. GIAC, and APR are great companies to go with for this. Much debate has gone into which is better and which gives you better power gains. Do the search feature on top and you can look at all of it. Oh yea... before you ask a ? rock out the search... you can think your asking a simple question and if its been discussed within the week... some people could really throw a b!tch fit.

There is very little difference as far as power gains go between the chips until you get into big turbo programming.

I'd suggest taking a look at GIAC, APR and Revos websites for dealers closest to you. If you have all 3 close by then APR and Revo both offer free trials of their code, although I'm not sure if the trials would be available on a 99. It'd be worth a phone call to find out anyway.

I say go with a local dealer only because if you ever have a proplem with the programming it'll make a whole hell of a lot easier and cheaper to have a local guy do fix it than to have it towed to someone who is familiar with the software but 500 miles away.
