I know Mobil 1 is compatible mineral oil. A mechanic wanted me to change to Amsoil, by changing oil and filter a second time after 1000 miles.

 

And my mechanic wants to change my timing belt every 10K miles.

 

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ha ha h aha ha ha ha!........ha!

 

Find another mechanic.

 

I heard amzoil is better than mobil 1, by a small degree. Amzoil also says their top of the line synthetic is good for 25K miles.... and their filter (which i dont think is available in our cars) is good for 12.5K miles. SCARY. I was going to switch to amzoil, and change every 10K KILOMETERS (im in canada). thats like 7K miles, when they say its good for 25K miles (35K km) My performance shop ONLY sells royal purple... and by the case its 6.50 CDN a litre, not bad, but is it as good as amzoil? I look at mobil 1 like I look at Microsoft... there is definately a hype factor.

 

Royal Purple, Amzoil and M1 are all good brands of oil IMO.
