Default Oil Change intervals

Searched for it and couldnt find a difinitive answer. I have a 99.5 A4 with about 58k, and I usually change every 3,000 miles with Mobil 1 synthetic. Should I continue this or can i wait until 5k miles? Also, what kind of oil is best for winter? (Meaning 10W-30, 5W-30, etc.) Thanks.

with a good syn you could go longer than 3k miles. But you must still change the filter per requirements...

the filter is more important than the oil itself.

5K miles with synthetic is recommended. Make sure you use an OEM filter esp the larger Bosch filter. This adds approximately one half quart to the oil volume and decreases the risk of sludge.

The recommended wieght is 5W-40, but for mobil 1 it is 0W-40.

3k is too early and a waste of good oil but its your choice, 6 to 10k with Mobil 1 full synthetic "turbo engine 6k" always change oil and filter 5w30 for cold weather
