Oil change problem
They make wrenches specifically for getting the filter off. Personally, the only thing I ever use is a strap wrench. When you reinstall it, make it firmly hand tight. Don't tighten it with a filter wrench or anything as it makes it a huge pain to get off.
I suggest you run to walmart and get a strap wrench (decent size one like 10" long) or get a filter wrench.
In a pinch some people will tell you that you can drive a screw driver through the filter to get leverage. People do it, but only do it as a last resort. Once you puncture it, there is no turning back. You are stuck right now, but if nothing else, you can put oil in without changing the filter this time and get a wrench for next time.

I have a strap wrench but i'm pretty sure whatever idiot changed the oil before me didn't lube the ring before installing the new one and now this one is fryed on there. I think i'm going to try the screwdriver technique.
I had to drive a screwdriver through mine the last time I changed my oil and it does work very well but be prepared to get oil all over. When I got done it looked like I took a bath in oil.
It's always harder the first time you do it on a new car. When I did my first oil change on my A4, it took me awhile. It's time for me to do another one, but now I know how to get the damn skidplate off, & know where everything is.
