Default oil change problem

when i was changing my oil a couple weeks ago everything was going fine until i tried takign the filter off. First of all the filter is not in such a great place where you can reach it easily. So i try to untwist it and it just crumbles. spent 30 mins trying to untwist it and nothing worked, didnt even move it a millimeter. by that time i already ripped the outer layer of metal on the oil filter. so i figured i would need to stick a screwdriver in the filter and try to get it off that way. in the next 10 mins i understoon that it wont be easy. and also the filter has VERY little space around it and its kinda tricky to get to with a tool in you hand. even harder to try to hit that too so it would go in. so after half hour trying to get the screwdriver in by hitting it with a hammer (i dont know how i even fit that little part of the hammer there) i decide to drill a hole in it. so i drill through the outer layer and then through whatever is inside. stick the screwdriver in there and apply HUMONGOUS amounts of force to the screwdriver for 10-15 mins before it moved a sigle bit. after another 25 mins the filter was off. lesson learned: next time its cold i'm letting my mechanic change my oil
