Oil Change Question
After recently getting my car, I don't know the last time the oil was changed. It might have been done when I got it, but on the mechanic's sheet I noticed no oil change. The trip-computer was reset though.
My question is, will the computer's oil warning go off automatically when it needs an oil change, or is it a set 4-5000 miles after a trip-computer reset? How do I know when I should change the oil?

I'm guessing the trip-computer was reset after the last change - whenever that was.
So, hit the button with the spanner logo on the top right corner of your steering column ... it'll tell you how many miles are left till the next one. But that does not have any time information - so you might be better off just doing it now.
Added later: Mine's a B6. So I can't be certain your car has the same button - you haven't said anything about your car.

nope the service reminder will flash in the first like minute of driving, then it switches to the trip odometer. the trip computer can be reset by just pushing that thing in the dash. the service reminder is a couple of steps to reset
So how do you reset the service reminder? I have an 03 B6 I followed instructions on resetting it off another forum and now the # of miles, # of days til next service is just blank. How do you reset that? Can you enter specific days and miles if you have vag com?
