Default oil dip stick holder....

is this the correct one? if it is then our cars are supposto take 4.3quarts correct? then i have a problem.. my dipstick has no oil on it at all when i put itin there with the new dip stick holder. i got this after i changed my oil about a thousand miles ago and i just put in the 4.3quarts and called it good. then the dipstick was way over full because the old holder was broken and was not even there. iam hoping that i got a wrong one or a longer one, if worst come to worst i will just drop the oil and put in the for sure correct amount and see where it reads on the dip stick.. this is on a 98 a4 1.8t 5spd. thanks

Hi. I just recently had the same problem! Same year car too =P. That is the right holder and you are probably low on oil if it is not even showing up. Just take the old ring off by twisting and twist the new one on. When I replaced mine just several weeks ago I was probably close to a quart short! Luckily I had put maybe 50 miles on it since buying it so hopefully no harm done. Good luck!
