97 1.8t dip stick
Hey guys i'm new to the Audi world. I'm a volvo guy but my girlfriend got an Audi and she managed to break the the plastic tip of the dip stick tube that it sits in. The dip stick is still sitting in the tube about an inch lower than normal. I just want to know what threats are posed here? Thanks a lot to anyone with any suggestions!
The dip stick funnel is quite brittle and it breaking is not uncommon, had it happen to me.
Just get it replaced ASAP, you won't be able to read the level accurately and theres a possibility of some oil blowing through (though I never had that happen.)
The part is cheap, pull the old one off (not as easy as it sounds, I broke the old one into pieces with some pliers), and pop the new one on (also not as easy as it sounds, just a tight press fit.)
$2: Audi B5 A4 Quattro 1.8T > Search > Funnel > ES#1501 Oil Dipstick Funnel - 053103663SJ
OEM replacement is $4.
