Oil Leak!!!
Hello, guys I was hoping some of you which are more mechanically incline can help me out with this decision.
Well I took the car for it's regular oil change, but the guys at the local jiffy lube told me it had a big oil leak and that the engine was about to go out due to know oil pressure and oil leak.
After that I took it to my VW/Audi shop to get a 2nd opinion before I fork $$$$$ over towards a new engine. The techs there told me that the oil leak could be repaired and they would completely take out the engine, change all the gaskets as well as the oil pump and while there at it the timing belt and water pump as well. All for a lump sum of $1500 with a 1 year warranty on the parts and work. I just would like to know if this seems high for a oil leak repair+timming belt and new gaskets and fittings?
I would appreciate any input on this. Thanks
Hey guys this is wut they wrote on the work order, Let me know what you guys think.
"Good afternoon, we'll be removing the engine and installing all new engine seals including rear main seal, timing belt, timing belt tensioner,rollers,multi-rib belt, new coolant, synthetic oil,oil filter,"includes removing both oil pans"check hydraulic tensioners.(if needed to be replaced they're $150.00 each which is not included in the original estimate).About the mounts we suggest that yoiu go ahead and replace also the front engine mount as well as the transmissions mounts. If you want to buy the mounts from me,please call me and we'll check for prices.Warranty is of 1 year parts & labor.
Thank you,
