This is probably a stupid question, but will this ecu work in my car (98.5 1.8TQM)? It's from a 1.8T Passat.

I just want it to chip...I don't want to be without my car while I send my ecu away.

 

i dont see why you would send your ecu away? why not go to a distributer/apr.giac.etc dealer and have it done the same day? but if it is the same year ecu as your car, i dont see why it wouldn't work..... but i am not positive.

 

I'm getting ready to put a k04 on my car and the closest giac dealer is two hours away. The local tuning shop does apr only and they have no software for k04.

 

i see, well I would reccomend you try it and find out if it does work(seeing you apparently have the ecu based on your pic). it couldn't hurt to try.....

 

A friend of mine works at a junkyard and pulled it for me and took pics. I don't have it in my posession yet, I was waiting to get a definite response first.

 

Check the part number. It starts with 4b0 up at the top of the ecm sticker. If it matchs yours itll work. Otherwise it may not. If you have a vag com it should display your current ecm part number in the engine electronics.

 

Just make sure the ECU numbers match. My current ECU is from a Passat.

 

it will work but you have have some issues with some of gauge panels, i sold an ecu out of my old passat to a guy with an a4 same part number and he had to have it flashed by audi so it worked right..

 

yea im pretty sure the car would run and all it would just be doing wierd **** with guages and what not
