Picking up '03 1.8T Quattro on Tuesday
yeah i was looking at certified pre owned a4's but for what i want i cannot find any certified w/in 250 mi...even the audi dealerships themselves dont have any certified pre owned...i would like to make a deal with a seller that will allow me to take the car for a full inspection before the sale is final...that would be my insurance policy...and then after purchase i would obviosuly have to take it in for a full service...
I began expanding my search too and have been only looking at CPO. Where are you located? I am in Northern Virginia, right outside of Washington DC and I expanded my search up to mid-state New York and as far south as Charlotte, NC. I found out that southern vehicles typically don't come with cold weather packages though : ) I regularly checked audiusa.com for their pre-owned listings and would call all dealerships within a 100 mi radius. I would run every VIN through CARFAX that I found in autotrader.com and cars.com listings and would sometimes find that the car had been previously certified. Audi told me that certification follows the car so regardless of who you bought a previously certified car from you could get the certification transferred to you for only $150. The cars you find like this would make you the third owner. If you haven't yet I strongly recommend paying $24.99 for a month subscription to CARFAX. It's so worth it - you get unlimited submissions. Call me crazy but I have had it for about 20 days and have already run 156 VIN's through for assessment. Be careful though, CARFAX often times doesn't have the car's full history. Another great feature of carfax (and its free) is the carfax hot listings feature. You put in your criteria and you'll get an email from them daily on the cars that are listed for sale that meet your specficiations < --- this is a great proactive approach. Hope this helps some! GOOD LUCK! The used car market is a B
