i have been thinking about getting an upgraded turbo. the k04 are expensive and are hard to find in the states. i found a turbo made by "G-Pop". they get k03 and put k04 internals inside. they state that the turbo is just as good as and in some cases even better. does anyone know anything about this and would this be a good alternative. the turbo is only $615.

They probably use k04 internals with a k03 housing. If that is the case, you will have better bottomend than a normal k04, but not as much top end asa k04. Imo, I wouldnt get it. It will make a noticeable difference, but after going bt, it is hard to say a k04 will make someone happy....

yeah thanks. i would love to do the bt but that is more money than i want to spend. i have a 87 rx7 that i am also trying to "restore" as well. thanks for the fast reply. i am at work and have nothing else to do right now!

yes you need thek04 software. I got mine for only $700. You can find REAL K04's for a good price if you look hard enough. I actaully saw a post here fora company who just got a shipment from Borg Warner in about a month ago and jumped all over it. I got lucky but they are out there.

k04 and k03 housings are the same except for the k04 is ported and has larger compressor wheel and better journal bearings. The gpopshop k04 retains the k03 exhaust site of the compressor wheel and that is the only difference. K04 will should make most peole happy because of early spool up and and the good amount of tq you can get with the right tuning. Anything that can produce more than 250hp +all that tq, or close to it should be a good time for most people.
