There is a place in the mid-west that rebuilds Audi ABS modules. It has been written up on this forum before.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm considering using modulemaster still gotta get their price quote though, but before I make my final decision...do you think it would be possible to find an ECM at a salvage yard for cheaper? Right now my brakes work fine, just the annoying ABS light, so I'm gonna put it off and keep looking for the cheapest deal. Thanks again.

The ecm and abs module are two different things if thats what you are asking, and i really doubt that your ecm is bad or has problems.. The ecm/ecu is to the right of your brake fluid resevoir under that plastic cover bellow your wipers in a little black sealed box... The abs module is the box looking thing that has hydrolic lines coming out of the top of it right by your PS pump/resevoir-(if im picturing this right/thinking straight)...

Do a search for modulemaster to see what others think. That was not the mid-western rebuilder I remember , that was recommended.

FAQs for an own unit rebuild

Q. Do I need to send the whole pump in?
A. If the pump is ok, no. The module is the common failure 99% of the time. This can be seperated and sent in on its own.

Q. Can I drive the car while the module is being rebuilt?
A. Yes. As the pump stays on the car, you are not breaking into the hydraulic fluid system. Your normal standard brakes will still work. However, you will not have ABS / TC!! Take extra care when driving. (If your ABS light is on, most systems will not have ABS functioning anyway.)

Q. Will I need special tools to reinstall / code my rebuilt module?
A. No. The fault codes will be cleared upon re-installation. Also, as its your module, there will be no need to recode it
