Default wallet emptying airbag light

Hi all

Im having an issue with the dreaded airbag light - its seems to be intermittant - sometimes it doesnt come on, other times its on for a couple of minutes then off again.., its done this ever since it went into BMTS in Brisbane to have the ignition barrel replaced, but they always swore it had nothing to do with them, and they wanted to charge to look at it again.

Ive checked as much wiring as I can and all seems fine, ive got half the dash out now checking the sensor module wiring - nothing amiss there

Has anyone seen this before?

Cheers

Do you have any codes under airbags or instrument cluster? You need a VAG. If it is intermittent like that, it sounds like a communication issue between the airbag computer and the instrument cluster.

Hope all these help. You WILL need a VAG COM to clear the airbag light.....if you need more help, post here or PM me...

Sorry, I misread...if your LIGHT just blinks on and off, I'm going to say and agree with Dallas, it's a lose wire somewhere...probably happened when you had your ignition replaced...yes, they will NEVER admit it, but that's probably what happened...I can email you a diagram of how to take apart the whole inside of an a4, however, it's in GERMAN, but has a ton of pictures with locations of screws, harnesses etc on it....

Agreed on an intermittent communications wire. If it was an intermittent airbag wire that light would be on and stay on. It doesn't extinguish itself, even after a problem is repaired - it has to be turned off via scantool. If it's going on and off, it's a fault with communication or the airbag controller itself.
