Power relay?
2002 A4 turbo.
So I have had some issues with the EPC light coming on in cold weather. Generally I have learned to turn off the engine and then restart.. which depending on if I wait long enough.. sometimes the check engine light comes on (if i start it immediately after). The car does not hesitate with the EPC light on. It runs as normal.. sans terrible dashboard distraction. The very first time I saw this happen I tried to run it out.. at about 5 miles an hour max.. and the car studdered and acted as if it was going to stall out. Then I learned to turn car off and restart.
My trusty mechanic plugged in the reader and told me it had to do with the power relay.. only... it is not broken enough to fix (mechanic's words). It has come on three or four times this winter-- and every time but once the EPC turned off upon restart. The last time it stayed on and drove fine.
Anyhow..... I feel binded by the alert, only I can't seem to take it very seriously. I can only believe it has something to do with temperature (see my other posts on temperature/Audi electrical hesitation- I might be on to something.)
The only times this has occured is when the mercury dips below 10 F. Any suggestions? AND. if I do need to have the power relay replaced.. where is it located? Is it just sticking?
