Default problem with boost gauge

i have a chipped 99 a4qtm and decided to put a gauge in the other day...i finally got it to work but theres a few problems...

1. im idling at 8 Hg and only boosting to around 5-6 peak which i know isnt right
2. it sounds like theres boost being leaked out behind my gauge (which im assuming is the cause of #1)

anyone know whats wrong?

make sure u tight everthing!!

hg should be about 20-22.

5-6 peak is normal if it is stock.

I think this is obvious...

Pull out the gauge and make sure you clamped everything right... follow the noise...

That leak will cause low vaccum/low boost readings... Might not effect your engine as much as the gauge...

so yea.. find the noise..

Uummm...are you sure the "noise" isn't the normal sound of the boost gauge? It should make a sort of metal rattling sound. Otherwise, check all your lines really well and make sure that the grommet on the firewall didn't pinch it closed.

Good point. Mine does have a small amount of air sound - boost running through the guage. I know though that there is no leak.

If you are chipped, it sounds like there is a leak somewhere and as drkenan said, you may have pinched the line somewhere along the way.
