lately once my gas tank reaches a little less than half it will all of sudden drop to E and the gas light will come on. then not 30 seconds or so later it will jump back up. this doesnt this multiple times as i drive. it is really strange. i reset my mileage everytime i fill up so i know when to refill next but at night the bright yelllow light is annoying. how should i go about fixing this? do i need a new one? can i put it in myself?

 

This is a known issue with these cars. There is a tech article for it on the site (in General Tech), or you can check the Tech area of AudiWorld.com. Basically there's a wire that frays/breaks on the sender, or possibly a terminal that becomes corroded. You can repair it yourself and save yourself the money of having a new one installed. Take a look at the General Tech forum and you'll find it there - doesn't look too difficult, which is nice - I have to do it too.
