put in intake (k&N) and now car sputters
The sensor gets dirty from the oil applied at the K&N factory - it's usually wayyy too much. Some carb cleaner or electronics cleaner would suit well for cleaning the MAF filament.
im going to try and clean that sensor tomorrow morning....
I drove it to work with the maf unplugged and now I have a wonderfull check engine light...
intake sounds sick tho....
I gotta make one of them heat shields cause the k&n method of using the stock heatshield is very crappy...
might as well throw some steaks on the filter and have dinner

I love how people think the air the intake takes in is going to make any differnece if its a tad cooler.... YOU HAVE A TURBO!! Its going to get REALLY HOT when it goes through the turbo.
hey wood_e.... I just read somewhere what you were saying about k&n using to much oil on the filters.... how do I go about cleaning the cone air filter do get rid of the oil on it.... so it won't dirty the maf sensor again...?
any suggestions will be appriciated.... thanks!

Simply put, flow > temp when it comes to turbos. The stock box can handle anything that uses the stock size maf. The intake is for sound only. People saying they feel gains are suffering from a plecebo effect. You like the sound, cool, then keep it, but dont go waste you money on heat sheilds and ug up your underhood appearance.
Just take a shop towel and dab the filter a little. Should take up any excess oil.
