Simply put, flow > temp when it comes to turbos. The stock box can handle anything that uses the stock size maf. The intake is for sound only. People saying they feel gains are suffering from a plecebo effect. You like the sound, cool, then keep it, but dont go waste you money on heat sheilds and ug up your underhood appearance.
Just take a shop towel and dab the filter a little. Should take up any excess oil.

So is the Carbonio intake worth it, i was just about to get one installed tomorrow but now im having second thoughts. What does it do realistically (not just the blurb on the website).

Look at the upside to buying an intake though - get a K&N drop-in panel filter or cone filter, whichever, and you never buy another air filter. Drive the car daily for a year and after that you're "making" money because after that point (or thereabouts) you would've paid as much for air filters as you did for the intake, and would have to keep on buying air filters beyond that point. If nothing else, you eventually begin to save money.
I agree in the case of the Carobino - I'd never spend that much on the intake. My ebay polished intake arm with K&N cone works just fine for me, and cost me far less than $400, so for the reason I stated above (plus the sound lol), I'm very happy with the purchase.
