Sell or keep?
I just spent $ 4000 to replace cylinder heads/camshafts/valves/water pump/timing belt ( that popped) and a mix of other minor things on my 2001 A4-18t
The engine now runs better than before, the body is in great shape and I have no other major issues.
I will need new tires and a new O2 sensor, along with a susp part...total around $700.
I paid the car 16.000 in 2003, I spent already around $7.000 in repair / maintenance.
I want to keep it, my wife wants me to sell it. My point is that if I sell it now I would loose all the money I spent on repairs, it basically has a new engine, my wife 's point is that something else's breaks ( tranny, shifter) we'll have to pay again and the car would be worthless in 2 more years ( I'm at 110.000 miles). Plus she hates it.
What's your opinion?

AND of course that I absolutely love it.
keeper......you already spend the money on it....plus after fixing the suspension parts....the car should be trouble free for atleast another 100k miles...don't go to dealership to get your car work on...thats should save some money...if thats not enough.... you can save bunches of more money by calling geico
If you learn how to do the work yourself you will/would have saved a TON and your wife will not/wouldnt be so bitter about it. Id keep it and learn how to turn a wrench to keep the wifey happy. When you spend $7k on repairs, all she thinks about is "i wonder how many pairs of shoes and purses i could have gotten for $7k?!"

Absolutely.
I can do minor maintenance stuff...not something like changing valves or re-building a cylinder head.
Now if I didn't popped the timing belt in the first place...but then the audi dealer said they "did" that at 80.000. Of course they didn't.
