Default Shattered Fog Light!!!!

Has anyone ever come across this, I tried searching but I didnt come up with anything.

Last night while driving in decently heavy rain my "HeadLight Malfunction" symbol came on. I pulled over and found that my passenger side fog light was out. I figured the bulb had burned out, but to my dismay In the day light today I could see that my fog light was completely shattered. I had been driving for a solid hour before the Headlight Malfunction symbol came on. I have only owned the car for 8 days, do these things commonly shatter on there own?

Could somebody have kicked it and it continued to work until enough rain water got in there to short out the bulb? Im confused... any feed back?

Also, is it hard to get replacement glass for the fog light? Will I have to buy a whole new housing? I am pissed!!!

Let me Know what you think!!!

Thanks

Mat

I doubt it just shattered on its own. Either something hit it and you couldnt hear because of the heavy rain, or it could cracked before and the rain got inside and cracked it when it shorted the bulb.

I found a passenger side housing at www.car-stuff.com for $99 and free shipping... I dont mind paying that much for a brand new housing... does that seem like a reasonable price? To be honest I expected it to be more $$$$.

Now if my fog light shattered while I was driving, say from a rock or road debris, I imagine I would have heard it. I didnt have the radio on too loud (how loud can the symphony system go anyway!!) so Im still wondering if this has happened to anyone else...

Thanks for the help!

What a crappy coincidence Panda! ha-ha

IYou know, I was outside looking at it earlier, and that is some thick glass... I think it would take some decent force to shatter one those puppies. How did it happen on yours?
