Spark problems with a 99.5 1.8t, HELP greatly appreciated..
hello all, i just got off the phone with my cousin who is having some problems with his 1.8T. it seems that cylinder 1 is getting no spark at all, and he tried switching coilpacks with cylinder 3, and still the same problem, no spark on 1. has anyone had any similar problems? the only other thing that i could think of that it might be would be a plug wire that's gone bad. he thinks that it might be the ignition control module, but i would think that none of the cylinders would be getting spark if that were the case?
thanks much in advance,
mike

We have coil on plug so if he swapped 1 for 3 do you mean he swapped the coils?
*EDIT* my bad I have heard of the ICM going bad but don't know enough to say. Maybe someone else will be better at helping than me...

If you have or can borrow a multi meter check your plug wire from end to end and see if theres any continuity across it. If there isn't replace the wire. If you have continuity then try another spark plug. You said you tried switching coil packs so you ruled that out.
