hello every one,
I just got my 2003 A4 1.8T last month, and it only came with1 key + a wrong key that the dealer sent me. so, I purchasea remote and blank keyfrom ebay ( Just incase Ineeded a 3rd key.I have my key cuted today and trying to program it. I have done a lot researchallover audi forums. I foundfew different way to program it. But I have no luck with it after playing almost 2 hours withthe driver side door. please help me out!!! here is what I did.

First:
-Take the key you DO NOT want to program and put it in the ignition. Turn it one click forward.OK
-Close and lock the drivers door with the second key. OK
-On the second key (the one in the drivers door) press the 'UNLOCK' button ONCE only. The lights will flash on the car, but the doors will remain locked Light will not flash
-With the second key still in the drivers door, unlock then lock the door again. OK
-Pull the key from the slot and test remote functions.newremote will not work
-Open drivers door, remove key from ignition. OK

So, my problem here is the light will not flash. Then, I though it may be there is too many remotehad been already programed withmyA4. Ao I tryed the following:

-Switch ignition on with the key I do not want to program. OK
-Lock the driver side door OK
-press unlock buttin 5 times in 1 second intervals. a short horn signal will sound. (the light should flash 5 time, but my A4 has noflash at all)
-after 6 second, press unlock again. OK but my A4 do not give any reaction.

I also tried the following steps, the light still not flashing, or no horn.

hereare my questions:
(1) please tell me why the light won't flash during the programing
(2) why I cannot erase the memary
(3) is there another way to program the remont?

Pleasehelp me outwith this, I really don't want to spend $200(each) for the dealer to program it for me. Thanks

 

I forgot to mention that in the first step, I turn the key (working key, not the one i was trying to program) in the ignition, I closed the driver side door. locked with the new key. (within 5 secong, beforeI press the unlock)my alarm light (red led on the driver side door) startedblinking just like when you lock you car with the working remote. I would like to know is the red led suppose to blink during the procedure. Thanks
